Milan F/W 12.13 Menswear

It's that time of year again where hundreds of male models descend on Milan and Paris for the menswear fashion week.  For the Milan Fall/Winter 2012/13 Menswear we picked our favorite collections. This season featured many suits and over sized coats in a variety of fabrics such as velvet and leather. Gloves and overnight bags dominated the accessories.

  Prada

The F/W 12.13 Prada runway show was staged in a grad theatrical venue where actors walked among models. Miuccia's  clothes were a simple, sophisticated take on the powerful military man and diplomats of the early century. Double breasted suits, tailored topcoats and pocket ornaments recalled an English formality.

Gucci

Gucci's creative director Frida Giannini presented a collection full of tailored silhouettes in rich, dark colors. The collection includes slim cut trousers paired with over sized coats and chunky sweaters. An easy, luxuriant air is achieved by the use of silks, velvet and floral prints.

Burberry Prorsum

Christopher Bailey never fails to produce a flawless collection. The collection recalls a military sensibility but still retains its stylish edge.  Beginning as a twist on the traditional suit and developing into a loose and easy style with the scoop necked sweaters and animal knits. Bailey's use of color comes through in the quilted jackets, sweaters and corduroy suits and is featured in the gloves, documents holders and umbrellas.

Salvatore Ferragamo

Salvatore Ferragamo is a collection of tailored suits and winter coats with strong lines and silhouettes. The colors of the collection are warm dark colors from black to a warm mahogany. The collections evoke a dark, English sophistication with its range of fabrics.

Valentino

Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli's latest collection of Valentino menswear is sharp and perfectly crafted. Chiuri and Piccioli introduced a cape like coat thrown over a suit. They created a confident mix of casual and tailored formal menswear.
