New York and London both had strong offerings from established designers, however we did see some excellent collections from many unknown and up and coming designers. Here is our round up of our favorite collections from London and New York Fashion weeks.
Marc by Marc Jacobs - New York
For us Marc Jacobs is usually a hit or miss but when it comes to his diffusion line, Marc By Marc Jacobs he leaves us wanting more. The most recent line is a mix of school girl and military themes. We love the cute flat boots and the full skirts, topped of with a vibrant red lip. The menswear feature strong, tailored coats.
Preen - New York
Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi create beautiful strong silhouettes with a feminine touch. At times the collection could be minimalist. However Thornton and Bregazzi's touch of floral patterns and beading add a romantic touch to the sharp cuts and color blocks. The collection speaks of a sophisticated and feminine woman and definitely keeps us interested.
3.1 Phillip Lim - New York
Philip Lim's collection offers a runway of monochromatic and minimal everyday looks for a strong woman. The collection is completed with sleek jackets, beautiful knits and strongly tailored pants and coats.
Mary Katrantzou - London
I adore Mary Katrantzou's designs. Sometimes the shapes are so intense they are almost costume like but they are always like a work of art. This collection introduced new silhouettes and a focus on colors. The red was clearly my favorite. I love the geometric prints and the new cuts on the garments. These are clothes that one could spend hours uncovering details and mysteries.
McQ - London
Love it or hate it, Sarah Burton introduced a luxe McQ to the runway. The collection included the elements everyone loves of McQueen, the dark glamour and romance. The sculpted skirts and the gothic details add a dramatic flare to the collection. The menswear was military inspired and exuded richness.
Belstaff Mens - London
It was extremely difficult to narrow down two looks from the Belstaff Menswear collection but we did. I love the dark color palette of the collection with the rich plums and dark greens. The coats are well made and the pants fit perfectly. The woman's collection is equally as beautiful and features covet-worthy coats.
